The Family Place provides safety, encouragement, and opportunities—seven days a week, 365 days a year—partnering with Project Home who provides nighttime shelter. The Family Place is the only day center for homeless families in Ramsey County.
During the initial face-to-face interview, the front office staff assesses each family’s housing need. They are introduced to the culture of The Family Place. The Family Place can accommodate 40 individuals at any given time and operates at capacity 364 days a year.
Each morning families arrive from the night shelter to spend their day in a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment. Following breakfast, school age children board buses for school. Parents may choose to meet with our Stability Coach. Currently, over 75% of head of household adults are working. A healthy lunch, dinner, and snack are provided for those remaining on site.
Families are facing many challenges and obstacles. To help ease burdens, The Family Place coordinates with other human service agencies to ensure access to appropriate supportive services and community resources to move families toward a brighter, more stable future.
