Volunteers are an integral part of our ability to meet the needs of our guest families. In 2010, 1,587 volunteers provided service and $13,340 in donations of in-kind meals. The 6,948 hours of volunteer service is the equivalent of approximately 3.5 full-time staff, however we consider our volunteers priceless.
As a member of The Family Place volunteer team, you’ll have a direct impact on helping to heal the devastating effects of homelessness on children and their families. We’ve structured our programs to provide many different opportunities to help. Warm smiles, kind words and helping hands ensure those we serve feel welcomed and valued during their stay at The Family Place.
Many of our volunteers find their perception of homelessness changes after spending time with our guest families. Once they put a real face on poverty and homelessness, the life that changes dramatically is often their own. Many who volunteer at The Family Place are mobilized to action, recruiting new volunteers to return with them.
